Rep. Barney Frank

Barney Frank (D-MA)

Barney Frank Congressman (D-MA), Lived with convicted felon Steve Gobie who ran a gay prostitution operation from Frank’s apartment without his knowledge (REALLY?). Frank was Admonished by Congress for using his congressional privilege to eliminate 33 parking tickets attributed to Gobie (1987).

More recently Frank’s participation in the problems of Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and his endorsement of their liquidity and strength when they were clearly doomed financially, requiring billions more in bailouts from the federal government. Frank vehemently denies ever doing anything amiss. Ever.

Some quotes from the distinguished congressman:

In 2003, he called Fannie and Freddie “fundamentally sound financially” and accused the Bush Administration of trying to “exaggerate a threat of safety… [to] conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury, which I do not see.”

A year later, he said talk of financial problems at Fannie and Freddie were “an artificial issue created by the Bush administration…I don’t think we are in any remote danger here.”
